Official says Russia’s inflation may slow down to 10.5% in 2015
MOSCOW, May 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation will continue slowing and could amount to around 10.5% in 2015, Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Oreshkin told PRIME on Thursday.
“The situation with inflation is developing in accordance with the Finance Ministry’s forecast – I will remind that our forecast (for 2015 inflation) stands at 11% for quite a long time. And we also do not rule out that the final inflation can be close to 10.5%,” he said.
In May, year-on-year inflation may amount to 15.8–16.0%, he also said.
Inflation remained flat at 0.1% between May 5 and Tuesday and reached 8.1% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said earlier on Thursday.
Slowing of inflation is to a great extent connected with strengthening of the Russian ruble, Yelena Lakshina, an aide to the Economic Development Minister, told PRIME. However, she said it was too early to speak about a stable trend.
